Senior Project Engineer

Required Support to include:

  • Develops the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for the assigned project elements, monitoring progress to maintain those schedules and budgets. Develop strategy and technical approach to execute projects involving emergent technology and integration of autonomous systems.
  • Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the Project with other Project Engineers. Coordinates the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the project.
  • May assist the assigned Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of the technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project or study. Helps determine the technical skills and staff hours required.
  • Ensures customer criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines. Expedites distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the customer. Understands the customer’s business goals to enhance the project work.
  • Prepares technical reports, project manuals, and documentation of activity for the customer and management.
  • Obtains, analyzes, and circulates technical and contractual information to project disciplines.
  • Interfaces with procurement in coordination with vendors/subcontractors.
  • Technical writing expertise, recommendations and support in system evaluation and engineering assessments.
  • Management support of the project schedule (Integrated Master Schedule) and Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) as required.
  • Support the definition, management, and planning of project requirements.
  • Planning and support of Test & Evaluation execution.
  • Support the management of the project risks.
  • Coordination and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Participation in project working groups.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for status briefings and milestone, design, and project reviews.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated background in technical writing including authoring, editing, and managing technical system documents and procedures.
  • Experience developing detailed operational field procedures for hardware systems.
  • Ability to understand and create technical schematics and process flow diagrams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience communicating with subject matter experts and vendors.
  • Experience working within an Operational, Engineering and/or Program Management Office (PMO) environment.
  • Proficiency in preparing and formatting documents using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse team members and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Experience managing/executing technical projects
  • Experience with systems engineering tools and processes.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Current Secret Clearance or above required

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Conducting, analyzing, and managing cost schedules and performance of major projects; (2) Managing the technical aspects of major projects; (3) Maintaining quality control of all acquisition related documentation in support of an acquisition program; (4) Presenting information and decision briefings on issues regarding acquisition initiatives and priorities.

Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or ten (10) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to technical disciplines.

Experience: Must have ten (10) years professional systems engineering experience, with five years experience as a team leader performing system engineering and mission engineering efforts that include developing requirements, top level designs, and system architectures for software intensive systems. This includes experience related to the identification, analysis and resolution of complex systems engineering design issues involving platform, weapon, C2, and fire control systems.
