ABSI Aerospace & Defense Accepted into DoD SkillBridge Program to Support Transitioning Service Members
ABSI Aerospace & Defense (ABSI) announced today that it has been accepted as an authorized Industry Partner in the Department of Defense SkillBridge program, reinforcing the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting Service members as they transition from military service into civilian careers.
Since its founding , ABSI has built a veteran-led, mission-focused culture grounded in integrity, mentorship, and people-first leadership. Participation in the SkillBridge program expands that commitment by providing structured, real-world training opportunities designed to help transitioning Service members prepare for the next stage of their professional journey.
“Supporting veterans isn’t something we do because it’s expected—it’s who we are,” said Chris Sacco, CEO of ABSI Aerospace & Defense. “SkillBridge allows us to invest in Service members during a pivotal transition by pairing meaningful training with mentorship from leaders who have made that same journey. Whether participants ultimately join ABSI or pursue opportunities elsewhere, our goal is to help them leave the military prepared, confident, and ready to succeed in the private sector.”
SkillBridge Opportunities at ABSI
ABSI’s SkillBridge offerings are blended training experiences that combine formal instruction with hands-on exposure to real business operations. Programs are tailored to each participant’s background, interests, and transition timeline, with training periods typically ranging from 90 to 180 days, subject to individual needs and command approval.
While specific SkillBridge training tracks will rotate over time, participants can expect:
- A mix of formal coursework and hybrid remote/on-site engagement
- Exposure to how a veteran-led aerospace and defense company operates in the private sector
- One-on-one mentoring with senior prior-service ABSI leaders, often at the C-suite, Vice President, or Director level
- A professional environment focused on learning, growth, and practical application of new skills
Current and future SkillBridge opportunities may span areas such as business development and capture management, technical and engineering leadership, manufacturing, operations, and uncrewed systems. Because available tracks evolve, interested Service members are encouraged to review ABSI’s Careers page regularly.
Eligibility and Participation
ABSI SkillBridge opportunities are:
- Open to Service members from all U.S. military branches
- Open to enlisted, warrant officers, and commissioned officers
- Security clearance preferred
- Primarily remote or hybrid, with some opportunities supporting activities at ABSI headquarters in Maryland
(All required travel for mentoring at HQ is covered by ABSI)
Participation in the SkillBridge program is subject to command approval and applicable DoD SkillBridge eligibility requirements.
SkillBridge opportunities at ABSI are training-focused. Participants remain on active-duty status and continue to receive military pay and benefits through the Department of Defense. Participation does not guarantee follow-on employment with ABSI. These opportunities are designed to prepare Service members for a successful transition into the private sector, whether at ABSI or elsewhere, based on business needs and prevailing conditions.
